Somachi Chris-Asoluka has been appointed as the new Chief Executive officer of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, an organisation empowering young African entrepreneurs.
The appointment was followed by the retirement of the current CEO, Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu.
According to a statement issued by the foundation, the appointment would take effect from March 1, 2023.
It noted that Chris-Asoluka joined the foundation in 2014, and had served as the Foundation’s head of research, head of policy, and external relations, and most recently as the director of partnerships and communications.
Speaking on the appointment, Tony Elumelu, said, “On behalf of the board, I thank Ugochukwu, for her considerable achievements, significant sacrifice, and commitment to building and empowering the next generation of African business leaders.
Accepting her appointment, Somachi said: “I am honoured to be appointed to lead the Foundation, I look forward to working with the team, our partners, and all stakeholders to achieve our common goal of a strong, confident, self-reliant Africa.
