Femi Ogunrombi, the Nigerian actor known for playing the comic character of Papa Ajasco has passed on.
The late Nollywood star rose to prominence playing the titular character in the popular Wale Adenuga series after he replaced colleague Abiodun Ayoyinka, who pulled out at one point but later continued.
Fellow thespian Shaibu Husseini announced Ogunrombi’s demise on his official Twitter page, revealing that the former’s passing took place on Saturday evening.
“I have just been reliably informed that the ethnomusicologist, former Music Instructor with @NATIONALTROUPE and one-time stand-in for the ‘Papa Ajasco’ character on the popular @waleadenugaprod Comic Series ‘Papa Ajasco’ Mr Femi Ogunrombi is DEAD! Journey well Sir”, the tweet reads.
Femi Ogunrombi served as the music director of the National Troupe of Nigeria for ten years.
The actor was also the Director of Studies at the Pencil Film and Television Institute, Lagos and worked as a musicologist for over three decades.
